I have always been an aviation enthusiast, so the photo definitely caught my eye. I was excited about the flight of Spaceship One the other day as well. Anyway, thanks for the invite. I look forward to conversing with you and talking about things that pertain to our lives as men. Peace.

    Paul,

I saw the Spaceship One event live over the internet--it was amazing. One more step toward inexpensive space flights for everyone who wants to go. Burt Rutan rocks! (Just updated the photo for this tribe with a picture of Spaceship One).

I worked at a major airling as a crew cheif for a while. Big planes are fun. Walking under a 777 while it taxies, getting warm under the APU exhaust of a DC-10 at night, pumping 300,000 pounds of Jet-A into a 747-400 on its way to Sydney. Once in San Francisco, I had to stop my tractor and stare as 23 (I counted) aircraft were simultaneously moving on the ramp as the evening bank departed. It's hard to beleive that somthing weighing almost a million pounds can leave the ground.

I was taking a tour of a control tower with a friend (pre 9-11). We made a wrong turn, walked out a door and came face to face with a parked 747. It is amazing that something that large can get off the ground. The new Airbus should be quite a site as well.

I heard that folks need to be careful around a 777's engines. Even at idle, an engine capable of 90,000+ lbs of thrust must still be blowing some air behind it.
